400 kV substation commissioned ahead of schedule in India

Hyderabad, India: Four months ahead of the schedule, the Goliwada 400/200/11 kV power substation of the Kalesharam Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in Indian state of Telangana was commissioned on Thursday.

The power substation set up in Palakurthy mandal of Peddapalli district was intended to give supply to three pump houses constructed at Kannepalli, Annaram and Goliwada (Sundilla) as part of the Kaleshwaram mega integrated lift irrigation scheme.

This is the second substation in phase 1 of the project. A couple of months ago, Ramadugu substation was charged by Transmission Corporation of Telangana.

Official sources said four mega substations are being constructed under Phase 1. One more substation at Medaram will also be charged in the next few weeks.

The Kaleshwaram project requires major substations as each lift and pumps being used for the project consume 139 MW of power which are considered to be the highest in the country.

The substations are being constructed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd.
