FirstEnergy to invest $1B per year on transmission upgrades from 2018-2021

USA, Ohio: Within its Energizing the Future program that was launched in 2014, FirstEnergy is moving to Met-Ed and Penelec service areas in Pennsylvania where it expects to invest more than $1 billion per year on transmission upgrades from 2018-2021.

Thus far the company has completed 600-700 transmission projects per year within this initiative, with a focus on upgrading or replacing aging infrastructure, including power transformers, as well as enhancing performance and adding operational flexibility.

Energizing the Future is a program aimed at building a smarter, stronger and more secure transmission system and a modern, resilient distribution grid.
