Tucson’s new power line and substation project receives approval

USA, Arizona: Arizona regulators have approved Tucson Electric Power Co.’s plan to build a new, high-voltage transmission line and a substation to improve service to an area that includes the UA Tech Park at The Bridges.

The new 138 kV transmission line will extend from the H. Wilson Sundt Generating Station to the new Kino Substation, reports Tucson.com.

The construction is planned to begin in mid-2020, with the new lines and substation scheduled to go into service in mid-2021.

The project is the first of several improvements designed to provide additional transmission capacity in central Tucson.
