Contract awarded for Hornsea Project Two onshore substation

United Kingdom: Balfour Beatty has received a multi-million pound contract from Ørsted to build an onshore substation for what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project Two, located off the Yorkshire coast.

The onshore substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will be built on the east coast of England and is slated for completion in 2020, reports Power Technology.

The wind farm, which will have the capacity to supply clean electricity to more than 1.3 million homes, will become operational in 2022.
