Senegal building 158.7 MW wind project

Senegal: A major Senegalese wind farm, the 158.7 MW Taiba N’Diaye wind project majority-owned by renewable power generation company Lekela, has successfully reached financial close.

The wind farm will be constructed near the village of Taiba N’Diaye approximately 70 km north-east of Dakar, and include an on-site substation with a power transformer, while the adjacent Tobène substation will act as the grid connection point, reports Infrastructure Intelligence.

Once operational, it is anticipated that the Taiba N’Diaye wind farm will provide clean energy for over two million people.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2020.
