South Africa, Johannesburg: A new power transformer has been assembled and tested on site of the Rand Water’s Eikenhof pumping station to restore power after the substation transformer fire that severely affected the supply of power and water in parts of Johannesburg.

A job which what would normally take 72 hours to complete was done in just 30 hours to restore power and water supply to as many as four million people that were affected by the incident, reports The Citizen.

Three other transformers in the station were also damaged due to the severity of the fire that erupted at the station on Monday.
