Feasibility studies are under way for China’s first HVDC offshore substation

China is performing feasibility studies for the first ever HVDC offshore wind substation in China, which will be situated some 90 km off the coast of Jiangsu Province in eastern China.

A key stage in this 1.1 GW offshore wind project will be the creation of an offshore HVDC transmission system to export the generated power to the mainland, which will include an offshore and an onshore HVDC converter station and submarine cables, reports 4COffshore.

Technical advisory support on the feasibility studies and offshore HVDC transmission system has been contracted to DNV GL.
