Honduras granted $150M loan for electricity transmission system upgrades

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has granted $150 million loan to support national electric energy transmission program in Honduras, which aims to expand transmission system at national level and improve service quality and reduce power outages.

The loan will be used to finance works under the National Electricity Energy Company’s (ENEE) investment program which is expected to expand electricity transmission quality and capacity, reports Compelo.

The loan is also expected to strengthen ENEE’s interconnectivity with the Regional Electricity Market to foster the use of the Electricity System of the Central American Countries (SIEPAC).
