HVDC converter station successfully delivered to BorWin3

Germany: An HVDC converter station designed and manufactured by Siemens and Petrofac consortium for TenneT’s fifth grid connection in the North Sea, BorWin3, has been successfully delivered to the site.

It took around four weeks for the 18,000-ton cargo to reach the site, travelling across 12,000 kilometres from Dubai, UAE, where Siemens, TenneT and Petrofac teams performed all the works, Siemens said on Twitter.

BorWin3 is slated to go on-line in 2019.
