Siemens shunt reactors to help stabilize Arizona’s power grid

USA, Arizona: Arizona State’s largest energy provider Arizona Public Service Company (APS) will use Siemens shunt reactors as one of its solutions for grid voltage control.

With a reactor for optimally compensating reactive power, the company aims to additionally stabilize its grid, the manufacturer said in a press story.

For this purpose, the utility selected a 525 kV three-phase reactor with a reactive power of 170 MVAr, which is installed in a steel tank with oil cooling.
