463-tonne transformer driven across Suffolk

United Kingdom, Suffolk: A large power transformer weighing 463 tonnes has been transported through Suffolk by lorry in a 12 kilometre journey between Ipswich Waterfront and the Scottish Power site in Bramford.

The transformer, which arrived from Spain, was escorted by police on the final part of its journey to  the substation that will form part of Suffolk’s offshore wind farm, reports BBC.

The equipment is the first of four shipments to the substation.
