ABB transformers enable world record transmission link in China
ABB has delivered and successfully energized converter transformers for the 1,628 km Ximeng-Taizhou UHVDC transmission link developed by the State Grid Corporation of China, which can transmit up to 10 GW of electricity and has set a new world record in power capacity transmitted at 800 kV DC voltage level.
For the project which will transmit power from Inner Mongolia, ABB manufactured and delivered 509 MVA converter transformers, as well as 800 kV/6,250 ampere DC breakers and wall bushings, the company said in the press statement.
For another project, the Shandong – Hebei UHVAC link, ABB will design and supply 1,000 kV UHVAC transformers, and other products for the Heze station of this project. The link is expected to be in operation by the end of 2019.
Recently ABB has also supplied transformers, DC breakers and wall bushings with the same technology to the ±800 kV, 10 GW UHVDC Shanghaimiao-Shandong, and Jarud-Qingzhou projects, as well as 1,100 kV live tank circuit breakers to the Jarud-Qingzhou project.
