Gambia announces tender for electricity transmission infrastructure

The Republic of The Gambia has secured funds for the design and construction of electricity transmission infrastructure between Brikama and Kotu, and is now inviting bids from eligible bidders for the construction of lines and substations.

Initially, no more than six applicants will be selected for the contract for transmission infrastructure including, but not limited to, construction of 30 km of 225 kV transmission lines, 225/33 kV primary substations (including refurbishment and upgrades of nine existing secondary MV substations), and a control system (including SCADA system and dispatching center) in the Great Banjul Area, reports ESI-Africa.

Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from the National Water and Electricity Comp any Limited (NAWEC) at, and during office hours 9:00 am – 16:00 pm.

Applications for initial selection should be submitted by 12:00 pm on 24 December 2018.
