Broken transformer forces Merkel’s landing on the way to G20 summit
Last week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s scheduled flight to the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina was interrupted unexpectedly due to a failure in the plane’s transformer.
According to the German news magazine Spiegel, the glitch in the government plane “Konrad Adenauer” was triggered by a faulty transformer, which aircraft experts like to call the “heart of the aircraft’s electrical system“.
The Chancellor resumed her journey on a different aircraft, and the transformer unit on Konrad Adenauer has in the meantime been replaced.
