Duke Energy building new transmission project in central Florida
USA, Florida: Duke Energy has selected a site in Auburndale in Polk County, Florida, to construct a new substation and transmission line routes within the Polk County Reliability Enhancement Project.
The new 230 kV substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will be built at the site of Osprey Energy Center. The project will also include construction of 230 kV Kathleen transmission line extending from the Osprey Energy Center 42 km west to the existing Kathleen substation, and the new 230 kV Haines City transmission line from the Osprey Energy Center 35 km east to the existing Haines City East substation, reports Compelo.
The project has been designed to meet the increasing energy needs of those living and working in central Florida.
Construction of the Polk County Reliability Project is expected to commence in 2021 and continue until the line becomes operational in 2024.
