NYPA implementing $726M transmission upgrade programme
USA, New York State: The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is implementing a multi-year transmission life extension and modernization program to replace and refurbish transmission assets at sites across the state, reports North Country Now.
The $726 million statewide program that encompasses substations, transmission line infrastructure, submarine cables and rights of way that comprise NYPA’s transmission system is scheduled to be completed in phases by 2025.
Some of the major equipment in NYPA’s transmission system is nearing the end of its useful life and is due to be replaced, including autotransformers, reactors, breakers, relays, disconnect switches, protection systems, battery banks and station service equipment.
