Morocco and Spain to set up third power link

Morocco and Spain signed an agreement in Rabat to set up a third power link, Morocco’s news agency reported.

The two countries already have two undersea links with a combined capacity of up to 1,400 megawatts.

The agreement was signed by the energy ministers of the two countries at a ceremony chaired by Morocco’s King Mohammed VI and Spain’s King Felipe VI, who was in Morocco on an official visit. Eleven other agreements covering diplomacy, finance, culture, air transport and security were also signed.

Last December, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, France and Germany signed a joint declaration to facilitate cross-border power purchase agreements.
