Australian company designs Revolution Wind substations
USA: Australian engineering company Worley is designing the offshore substations for the 700 MW Revolution Wind offshore wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island, US.
The contract, awarded by project developer Orsted, is for the engineering and design of two offshore topside substations.
Worley started work on the project last month and installation of the substations is expected in 2022.
Worley said it has devised a unique approach to the substations’ design by combining its digital, new energy and offshore hydrocarbons expertise.
The approach has resulted in an “innovative and cost-competitive offering”, which, according to Worley, has provided it with a template to use for future proposals.
Worley will deliver the project via its Reading, Pennsylvania, office. The company was previously know as Worley Parsons.
