USA / Singapore: Singapore-based power infrastructure company Amperesand has secured $80 M in a Series A funding round co-led by Walden Catalyst Ventures and Temasek. The investment will accelerate the development of its medium-voltage solid-state transformer (MV SST) platform and support the deployment of 30 MW of commercial systems in 2026, aimed primarily at hyperscale AI customers. To meet demand, the company is expanding engineering and manufacturing operations in both the United States and Singapore.

Amperesand claims its MV SST technology delivers a step change in power density, efficiency, and scalability for AI data centres, which require increasingly powerful electrical systems. According to CEO and co-founder Brian Dow, “Amperesand is obsessed with revolutionising medium voltage to critical load power delivery for next generation AI data centres, defence, and other essential electrified assets. We focus on first principles to achieve market-leading power density, efficiency, and reliability.”

The first commercial delivery of Amperesand’s system will support a mission-critical charging pilot at the Port of Singapore with PSA International. Other investors in the round include Industry Ventures, Acclimate Ventures, and SG Growth Capital, alongside continued backing from Xora Innovation, Material Impact, TDK Ventures, and Foothill Ventures.

Replacing conventional transformer units with SSTs could unlock new capabilities, including fast EV charging in more locations. Amperesand was spun out of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University in 2023 and has since completed full-power, overload, and bidirectional tests of its second-generation system, paving the way for commercial deployment.
