India: Bajel Projects Ltd has won an order valued at over INR 400 crore ($46.1 million) from a TBCB subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). The order was placed by PGCIL on behalf of its TBCB subsidiary MEL Power Transmission Ltd. The order includes critical components for enhancing India’s transmission capabilities, specifically for the transmission line package “TL01”.

The scope of work includes the construction of a new 400 kV D/c transmission Line stretching approximately 138 km, connecting Mahan (Existing Bus)-Rewa PS (PG) using Quad ACSR/AAAC/AL59 moose equivalent conductors, and the extension of 400 kV substation bay works at Rewa (PG) associated with the transmission system for the evacuation of power from Mahan Energen Ltd Generating Station in Madhya Pradesh.

This project is expected to be completed within 29 months. Rajesh Ganesh, MD & CEO of Bajel Projects Ltd, said, “We are incredibly proud to have secured this ultra-mega order from PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited. This project reflects our robust capabilities in executing large and complex power transmission projects contributing to India’s energy infrastructure growth.”

According to T&D India, PGCIL recently won an ISTS scheme housed under MEL Transmission Ltd under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) framework. The scheme involves providing ISTS connectivity to the existing 1200 MW Mahan thermal power plant owned by Mahan Energen Ltd, a subsidiary of Adani Power Ltd. It is estimated to cost around INR 558 crore and has an expected implementation period of 30 months. The scheme involves putting up a 400 kV double-circuit line from the existing bus of the Mahan power plant to PGCIL’s existing Rewa pooling station (PS) of PGCIL.
