BRUSH names Vanessa Wu-Barker Transformers Director

A new director will lead strategy and growth of BRUSH’s power transformer business supporting UK energy transition.

UK, England, Loughborough: BRUSH Group has appointed Vanessa Wu-Barker as Director of its Transformers division. Based in Loughborough, the engineering solutions provider supports electrical infrastructure and power networks across the energy sector.

As a member of the executive team, Wu-Barker will oversee the direction and development of the company’s transformer business. Her responsibilities include strengthening operational capabilities across engineering, manufacturing and delivery of power transformers used in the UK’s evolving energy system.

Commenting on the appointment, Wu-Barker said BRUSH has a strong heritage in the power transformer sector and has long delivered solutions that support critical infrastructure, improve grid resilience and contribute to the transition to net zero. She added that joining the company at a time of strong ambition and momentum across the energy landscape is an exciting opportunity.

Wu-Barker brings more than 20 years of experience in operations management, network transformation and strategic delivery within global engineering and industrial environments. She holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering from Swansea University and has extensive experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver measurable performance improvements.

Her appointment comes as demand for power transformers increases, driven by the need for stronger grid resilience and the integration of renewable energy. Transformers play a central role in high-voltage networks, industrial power systems and renewable energy projects.

BRUSH’s transformer portfolio includes bespoke power transformers, special transformers and reactors, on-load tap changers and service solutions designed to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
