The Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation is expected to start the upgrade of the substation in Gautam Budh Nagar, where the transformer capacity is currently only 400KV. Entergy Announces Preliminary Third Quarter Earnings Guidance
Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) announced that it expects third quarter 2013 earnings of approximately $1.33 per share and operational earnings of approximately $2.40 per share. The third quarter results for 2012 were $1.89 per share and $1.95 per share on an operational basis. Entergy also affirmed previously issued operational earnings guidance for 2013.

Siemens awarded a 150-MW wind power project in Canada
Siemens Canada has received an order from Samsung Renewable Energy, Inc. (Samsung) and Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern Development) for the Grand Renewable Wind Project. Under the agreement, Siemens will supply, deliver and commission 67 units of its SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines to the Grand Renewable Energy Park, located in the County of Haldimand in southern Ontario which will consist of 100 MW of solar power and 150 MW of wind power. The agreement also includes a three-year service and maintenance agreement.
Power transformers pose weakness in the electric grid
LPTs are custom-designed and cost millions of dollars to replace. Due to their weight between 100 and 400 tons apiece, they are extremely difficult to transport. According to a 2012 Energy Department report, the replacement of LPTs could take 20 months or more due to the complex procurement rules for the technology and the fluctuating price of copper and electrical steel in recent years.
ABB sells Baldor’s generator-set business to Generac Holdings Inc.
ABB announced they have signed an agreement to sell all assets of Baldor's generator-set business to Generac Holdings Inc. (NYSE:GNRC, “Generac”) - a leading producer of generators and other engine-powered products with the headquarters in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the US. The terms of the transaction, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013, were not disclosed.
Storm shuts down transformers in Parsippany
Due to downed wires in Parsippany, New Jersey, Route 46 is closed to all traffic between North Beverwyck Road and Baldwin Road. Apart from live lines, there are transformers down and snapped utility poles as announced by the police at 3:10 pm closure.
Power transformer explodes in Oklahoma City residential area
An electrical transformer exploded on Monday in a residential area near downtown Oklahoma City. The incident shocked the residents but caused no injuries or lengthy power failures according to the authorities. There were no reports of damage outside the substation.

Cook Plant’s Unit 2 to be upgraded
The Cook Nuclear Plant near Bridgman operated by Indiana Michigan Power, recently began an outage of Unit 2 for refueling, testing and equipment replacement. This is expected to bring in approximately 1,900 contract workers.
