Taiwan: CAPE Holland, part of the Venterra Group, has been contracted by CDWE for the Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan. The company will provide its CAPE VLT-640 Tandem Vibro Lifting Tool to pre-install foundation piles for wind turbines and the offshore substation.
The CAPE VLT-640 is designed to handle complex subsea soil conditions and minimise the risk of pile run. The tool has been used on previous offshore projects in Taiwan, contributing to efficient installation schedules.
The Fengmiao Wind Farm is located approximately 36 km off the coast of Taichung City in water depths of 53 to 64 m. Once operational, it will have a capacity of 500 MW, with 33 turbine locations using 15 MW turbines. The project includes 99 pre-installed turbine piles, as well as a four-legged jacket foundation for the offshore substation, supported by skirt piles weighing up to 810 t. Turbine foundation piles weigh up to 585 t.
CDWE is a joint venture of DEME Offshore and CSBC. The collaboration with CAPE Holland aims to maintain a smooth installation sequence while applying offshore foundation expertise.
The project reflects ongoing developments in Taiwan’s offshore wind sector and the broader expansion of renewable energy capacity in the region.
