China commences construction of new $6 B UHV line
The State Grid Corporation of China has commenced the construction of a new UHV power transmission line and a pumped-storage hydropower plant.

China, Beijing: The State Grid Corporation of China has commenced the construction of a new ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission line and a pumped-storage hydropower plant.
The Jinshang-Hubei 800-kV UHV direct current power transmission project is 1,901 km long and is currently the highest-altitude UHV direct current power transmission project in the world. The State Grid said the project will pass through four provincial regions: Tibet, Sichuan, Chongqing and Hubei.
The Tongshan pumped-storage hydropower station will be equipped with four sets of power generators, each with a capacity of 350 MW.
The total investment in the two projects will reach approximately $6.2 B (42.7 B yuan), according to the State Grid.
The company has so far completed 33 UHV projects countrywide and plans to construct several more pumped-storage hydropower stations with an estimated total installed capacity of over 27 GW during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025).
