Paraguay: Cox, a utility company specialising in water and energy, has been awarded a contract through its subsidiary Cox Chile to construct 500 km of 220 kV transmission lines in Paraguay’s Chaco region. The project, commissioned by the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), is valued at $64 M and will be executed in partnership with Paraguayan firm L.T. S.A.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of two high-voltage lines, aimed at bolstering Paraguay’s national grid capacity. The new infrastructure will improve power transmission to the Western (Chaco) and Northern regions, areas experiencing rising demand and requiring more resilient energy systems.
Cox brings extensive experience to the project, with more than 30,000 km of transmission lines developed globally. This initiative strengthens the company’s presence in Latin America and aligns with Paraguay’s efforts to build a sustainable and future-ready grid.
Enrique Riquelme, Executive Chairman of Cox, highlighted the company’s strategic approach: “We are committed to sustainable investments that improve infrastructure, support renewable energy, and generate local value. Through strategic partnerships and integrated solutions, we aim to contribute to the economic and energy growth of the region.”
