India: Express Global Logistics (EXG) has successfully transported a massive 250 t transformer across 1,929 km within India, showcasing its expertise in handling heavy-lift logistics.
The transformer, measuring 10.2 x 4.3 x 4.6 m, required meticulous planning and specialised equipment due to its size and weight. To ensure safe and efficient transport, EXG deployed an 18-axle hydraulic trailer that provided even weight distribution and minimised road stress throughout the route.
One of the most complex aspects of the project involved infrastructure modifications. EXG engineered and built three custom bypasses to navigate around low-capacity bridges and sharp curves that could not accommodate the oversized load. These bypasses were constructed and completed in just 15 days.
The transportation phase took around 30 days, but the total project spanned nearly two months, factoring in route surveys, permit acquisition, and logistical coordination. Among the unique challenges were large public gatherings around the bypass areas during daytime movement, which required careful crowd management and additional safety measures.
EXG’s successful execution of the project underscores its capability to deliver high-stakes, heavy cargo solutions across complex terrains, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
