Finland: Finland’s TSO Fingrid has purchased the transmission line connecting Finland’s Central Ostrobothnia wind power hub. The company acquired a 55 km long section of the 400 kV transmission line connection between Alajarvi and Lestijarvi from Lestijarven Sahkaverkko, which was completed last year. As part of the main grid, the line will facilitate the commissioning of new wind and solar power capacity in the area.

The line was originally implemented as a connection line for the Lestijarvi wind farm, currently under construction by OX2 and expected to be completed during the year. There are also other wind and solar farms planned in Southern, Central and Northern Ostrobothnia.

Fingrid is implementing a new 400 kV transmission line for the main grid through the area, which has been named the Lakeus Line. Two new 400 kV transmission lines are needed in the main grid. The second line consists of a connection line purchased as part of the main grid, which Fingrid will continue as a ring network for the new Ullava substation.
