India, Ghazipur: After a transformer explosion injured four people with scalding oil, two electricity department employees were dismissed, and two others were suspended in Moti Nagar, Usia village, under Dildarnagar police station area of Ghazipur district.

A 25 kVA transformer was burned for several days. A replacement transformer was installed, and electricity was initiated. However, after 10 minutes the transformer exploded, and its boiling oil sprayed onto passersby. As a result, four persons sustained severe burn injuries.

UP Energy Minister A.K. Sharma publicly announced the action, revealing on X that lineman Mantu Singh Kushwaha and Substation Officer Azad Singh Kushwaha, who were directly involved in installing the transformer, had been dismissed.

Additionally, Junior Engineer Shashikant Patel and SDO Kamlesh Kumar were suspended. A case was filed against Mantu and Saddam Khan, both residents of Usia village.

“The accident occurred at an ice factory in Usia village under the Dildar Nagar electricity subdivision, where a 25 KVA transformer was illegally and unauthorisedly installed, resulting in injuries to several individuals”, Sharma wrote in his post.

He further revealed that this incident brought to light some more serious issues. There appear to be illegal dealings involving transformers and the electrical system in Ghazipur district, with potential involvement of mafias and political protection.

The transformer was illegal and was being installed unauthorisedly at an ice factory whose connection had already been cut off due to unpaid bills.

Strict action will be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.
