Hitachi Energy, working with Microsoft, is reshaping how essential infrastructure is managed by reinventing its Ellipse Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution with AI-enabled Microsoft technologies.

Critical infrastructure such as power grids, rail systems and industrial facilities is often decades old and under growing pressure from rising demand, extreme weather and ageing equipment. Failures can trigger major disruptions, safety risks and costly damage. By combining Hitachi Energy’s deep experience in asset-intensive industries with Microsoft’s cloud, data and AI capabilities, operators can move away from reactive maintenance towards proactive, data-driven asset lifecycle management.

The renewed Ellipse EAM brings together Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Foundry into a single, unified platform. This approach integrates asset data, analytics and business operations, building on the strategic alliance between Hitachi and Microsoft announced in 2024. Ellipse’s 40 years of EAM expertise is now enhanced with advanced AI to deliver a solution designed for modern infrastructure challenges.

The integrated platform provides full visibility across assets and networks, helping organisations plan maintenance at the right time by considering workforce availability, supply chains and financial data. This reduces unplanned outages, improves safety, and lowers the cost and disruption of emergency repairs.

By breaking down traditional data silos between EAM, ERP and CRM systems, the solution supports better decision-making, predictive maintenance, streamlined workflows and stronger alignment with regulatory and sustainability goals.

Delivery will be supported by Hitachi Energy’s ecosystem of system integrators, led by Hitachi Solutions, which will help customers deploy and scale the solution effectively.

Overall, the new Ellipse EAM acts as a foundation for digital transformation, enabling more reliable services, smarter operations and long-term value for critical infrastructure operators.
