USA: Hitachi Energy and Blackstone Energy Transition Partners have formed a strategic partnership focused on enhancing power infrastructure services across North America. Under the agreement, Hitachi Energy will acquire a minority stake in Shermco, a company recently acquired by Blackstone, to enhance maintenance, repair, and testing services for critical power infrastructure.
The partnership combines Hitachi Energy’s grid technology expertise, Blackstone’s investment strength, and Shermco’s extensive field service network in the US and Canada. Together, they aim to deliver comprehensive lifecycle support across transmission, data centres, and industrial electrification sectors.
“Investing in Shermco enables Hitachi Energy to expand service capabilities across North America, helping customers maintain and extend asset life while making the grid stronger, more resilient, and fit for the future,” said Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy.
Hitachi Energy is investing over $1 B globally in its Service business to expand its footprint, launch new digital service solutions like HMAX Energy, and train over 5,000 additional service experts worldwide.
According to Wolf Mueller, Managing Director of Hitachi Energy’s Service Business, “By combining Hitachi Energy’s grid expertise and digital solutions with Shermco’s nationwide presence, we will set a new benchmark for electrical infrastructure services.”
As power grids age and electrification accelerates, this collaboration aims to strengthen grid resilience, safety, and sustainability across North America.
