Germany, Munich: Hitachi Energy has secured an order from Siemens Mobility GmbH to deliver 360 RESIBLOC® Rail onboard traction transformers for upgrading the S-Bahn München rolling stock in Bavaria, Germany. These transformers, an essential system component to the trains’ operations, could enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Hitachi Energy’s RESIBLOC Rail dry-type transformers will be important to meeting S-Bahn’s service requirements for 90 new trains. The oil-free solution has been used in the market for more than 10 years for rail applications based on the RESIBLOC transformer technology. The transformers feature an oil-free design, ensuring safe performance, taking care of the environment with higher energy efficiency in operations and contributing to the decarbonization of the railway system. They also enable reduced operational costs and minimal maintenance requirements.

“We are very proud to continue setting up new benchmarks in the market with this order from our customer Siemens Mobility. With RESIBLOC Rail as a unique oil-free traction transformer solution, we provide innovation, efficiency, and sustainability for the modern rolling stock industry,” Stephane Schaal, Global Product Group Manager for Distribution and Traction Transformers in the Business Unit Transformers at Hitachi Energy, said.
