China: China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has named two Hitachi Energy manufacturing sites, Beijing and Datong, as National Green Factories in its 2024 Green Manufacturing List. This recognition brings the company’s total certified sites in China to four.

The National Green Factory initiative, launched in 2017, aims to enhance clean manufacturing and sustainable industry. By 2024, over 6,400 factories in China have met MIIT’s standards, which emphasise energy efficiency, clean production, waste reduction, and low-carbon energy use.

“Hitachi Energy places sustainability at the core of its mission. This certification acknowledges our commitment to advancing the energy transition and fulfilling our environmental responsibilities in China,” said James Zhao, Executive VP and Region Head, Greater China, Hitachi Energy.

The newly recognised facilities—Hitachi Energy Power System Co. Ltd. and Hitachi Energy Datong Traction Transformers Co. Ltd.—integrate green principles throughout their operations. In line with Hitachi Energy’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2030, both plants will source 100 % of their purchased electricity from fossil-free sources.

This achievement supports China’s push for high-quality, low-carbon manufacturing and reinforces Hitachi Energy’s leadership in sustainable industrial development.
