Italy, Sicily: Hitachi Energy has been awarded a contract to digitalize a hybrid switchgear Plug and Switch System (PASS) in Partinico, Sicily for ERG, a renewable power operator in Italy. The project includes capturing the hybrid switchgear’s operational parameters on-site using Hitachi Energy’s Modular Switchgear Monitoring (MSM) to boost asset availability and overall performance.
ERG is one of the independent operators of clean energy from renewable sources. It operates in nine European countries and the United States. The digitalization of wind and solar plant management systems is one of the pillars of its strategies for a sustainable energy future, aiming to leverage advanced digital tools such as MSM to optimize predictive maintenance and build an efficient energy management system. The MSM will gather, manage, and analyze all switchgear performance data which will then be evaluated by Hitachi Energy’s Collaboration Center in Lodi, Italy, thus facilitating condition monitoring and a proactive maintenance strategy for ERG.
“We are excited to continue our long-lasting relationship with ERG. Our digital solutions will empower ERG to predict asset health better, prevent equipment failure, minimize unplanned downtime and unforeseen costs, and most importantly, maximize safety,” Sofia Sauvageot, Head of Global Product Group, High Voltage Service, Business Unit High Voltage Products, Hitachi Energy, said.
