UK: ScottishPower Renewables, the UK renewables division of Spain’s Iberdrola S.A., has awarded a major contract to HSM Offshore Energy for the design, construction, and installation of the offshore substation and jacket foundation for the East Anglia TWO wind farm in the North Sea.
The agreement covers the full scope of engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) for the offshore substation platform, which will weigh approximately 5,100 t, along with a 3,700-t jacket foundation that will anchor it to the seabed.
The substation will play a vital role in the wind farm’s operation by collecting electricity from turbines, increasing the voltage, and delivering the power to the UK’s onshore grid via subsea cables.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2025, with the jacket installation scheduled for Q3 2027 and the full substation targeted for completion by the end of 2027.
Located around 33 km from Southwold and 37 km off the coast of Lowestoft, the 960 MW project represents a significant boost to the UK’s green energy capacity.
Leaders from both companies praised the early collaboration, emphasizing the value of proactive supply chain planning and the shared commitment to driving the energy transition.
