Interview with Sebastian Kuester of Coiltech: Electricity use is the nervous system of human activity

We are here at Coiltech Italia 2022 talking to Mr. Sebastian Kuester, CEO at QUiCKFairs, organizers of the show. Coiltech is a well-established international exhibition for machinery and materials for the production of electrical motors, generators, transformers and winding.

Sebastian, please, tell us about your role here as the event director.

Here at the fair, I am sorting out all the things that for whatever reason don’t work out the way we had envisioned, so that visitors and exhibitors have the best possible event experience. Throughout the year, I am also learning the lessons from these experiences, working on the implementation of innovations, and getting more and more visitors and exhibitors excited about the two Coiltechs in Germany and Italy.

How is the show going so far this year? How does it compare with previous years in terms of visitors, exhibitors and program in general?

Compared to 2019, the last pre-Covid and previous record edition: 7.6 % more visitors on the first day of the exhibition and conference, 2 % more net stand space, although there are 19 fewer stands because of the Covid issue, and 57 expert presentations at the conference led by Prof Marco Villani.

Among visitors and exhibitors, which companies from the transformers market are present here today?

We are happy to have such companies as LTC, Lagor, Enpay, Specialacciai, thyssenkrupp, Alanod, Systemcore, Due Esse, Elesa Transformadores, Tecno P, LAE, etc.

Do you have any new features that you are introducing here?

Remote stand acceptance and Fastlane at the exhibitor check-in. On the day before their arrival at the fairgrounds, exhibitors can check in their personal MyQUiCKFairs account on the basis of documentation photos that everything they have ordered is in place. Those who confirm this with a click of the mouse or communicate the necessary corrections then only need to collect their exhibitor parking permit when they arrive at the exhibition forecourt, can go straight to their finished stand and start networking with other exhibitors over a coffee or wine offered by us.

How is your business going and what is the situation in your markets?

Uncertainty and confidence. Especially in these weeks, it is before everyone’s eyes that electricity generation, distribution and use is the nervous system of human activity and life. Offering oneself as part of this system provides companies with a solid foundation and almost endless development opportunities at the same time. This also applies to us as a platform for face-to-face communication.

What are your plans for the future?

Continuing to be the exhibition and conference that all participants say is better than anything else they’ve seen, both in the Italian and the German edition.
