Nigeria, Lagos State: The Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Lukman Agbaje, has distributed 10 units of 500 kVA transformers to local communities, aiming to enhance electricity supply and overall electrification.
Agbaje said the move reflects his administration’s commitment to “Ijoba Irorun” – governance with ease – which has guided his policies since taking office.
“The distribution of these transformers will help tackle persistent power supply issues and improve electricity access across underserved areas of the LCDA,” he stated. Agbaje highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader programme of community-focused projects designed to improve residents’ welfare and support sustainable development.
He also noted additional welfare measures, including monthly disbursements of $70 (₦100,000) to 100 vulnerable households, and staff welfare packages to enhance motivation and productivity. Health initiatives have also been prioritised, with subsidised essential drugs across all seven primary health centres and free specified medications for residents aged 60 and above.
Agbaje emphasised that these steps underline the administration’s dedication to responsive, inclusive, and people-centred governance.
Similar initiatives have taken place elsewhere, including in Ogun State, where Senator Solomon Adeola distributed 102 transformers to 435 Community Development Areas to mark his 56th birthday, supporting President Bola Tinubu’s national effort to improve electricity access in communities.
