Leadership changes at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe
Marie Jaroni has been appointed CEO as the Supervisory Board renews executive contracts and implements changes to the company’s leadership structure.

Germany, Duisburg: The Supervisory Board of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG has announced several leadership changes following its meeting on 31 October, 2025. Marie Jaroni has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and she began her new five-year term on 1 November 2025.
Dennis Grimm, who previously served as Spokesman of the Executive Board and Chief Operating Officer, will step down from his positions by mutual agreement. Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board Ilse Henne thanked Grimm for his contributions during a challenging period, highlighting his role in driving operational improvements and restructuring initiatives.
CFO Philipp Conze’s contract has been extended for another five years, continuing his focus on performance-oriented financial management. Meanwhile, Wilfried von Rath has been appointed Labor Director and Chief Human Resources Officer, in addition to his existing role as CHRO of thyssenkrupp AG.
During the transition, some board responsibilities will be temporarily reassigned. Jaroni will assume interim oversight of production operations and corporate strategy until a new Chief Production Officer is appointed. Her current duties will be handled by Georgios Giovanakis, Head of Sales, on an interim basis.
Supervisory Board members expressed confidence in the new leadership team. “Marie Jaroni has set a strong strategic course for thyssenkrupp Steel,” said Ilse Henne. Deputy Chairman Knut Giesler added that her leadership in recent restructuring negotiations had “created a strong foundation of trust for her new role.”
