Canada, Ontario, Toronto: Hydro One Limited has announced that David Lebeter will retire as President and CEO on 9 June 2026, and will serve as a special advisor to the company until 10 October 2026. The Board has appointed Megan Telford, the current Chief Operating Officer, as the new President and CEO, effective 9 June 2026.
“This decision reflects a thorough succession planning process led by the Board with guidance from an external advisor. Megan is a highly respected leader who joined Hydro One in 2020. In her previous executive roles, she has overseen Health, Safety and Environment, Strategy, System Planning, Growth, Distribution and Transmission Operations, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Indigenous Relations, Corporate Affairs, and Customer Care. She is well placed to continue strengthening Hydro One as a leading utility,” said Melissa Sonberg, Chair of the Board.
Sonberg also thanked Lebeter for his leadership: “David has delivered operational and customer-service excellence, improved employee safety, created shareholder value, and laid the foundation for hundreds of kilometres of new transmission lines over the next 20 years.”
“I am grateful to Hydro One’s Board, leadership, and employees for their contributions. I am thrilled to see Megan step into this role to guide the company forward,” said Lebeter.
Telford added, “It is an honour to lead Hydro One at this critical moment. Our focus is clear: strengthen the electricity grid for tomorrow, make smart investments in infrastructure, and support the dedicated employees who keep the lights on. Together, we will continue to connect power and opportunity across Ontario for generations.”
