Greece: Motor Oil Renewable Energy (MORE) has commenced regular operations at its 43.2 MW wind power plant located in northern Greece, near the North Macedonia border. The facility, which began test operations in late 2023, features nine Nordex N-149 turbines. This development is part of MORE’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio, aiming for 2 GW of capacity by 2030, with nearly 3 GW currently in the project pipeline.
The wind park is financed through a $53.3 M (€47 M) refinancing of an earlier $46.8 M (€41.3 M) bond issued by the project company. In addition to this project, MORE is advancing other renewable initiatives in Greece, including a 53.6 MW wind farm in East Macedonia and Thrace, and a 400 MW offshore wind project in collaboration with Terna Energy. These efforts align with Greece’s renewable energy targets and contribute to the country’s energy transition goals.
MORE’s commitment to renewable energy is further demonstrated by its substantial investments, totaling over $1.8 B (€1.6 B) in the past two years, underscoring its dedication to sustainable energy development in the region.
