UK: National Grid Electricity Distribution has partnered with disability charity Scope to enhance support for vulnerable customers across Midlands, South West England, and South Wales. The collaboration aims to improve accessibility to the Priority Services Register (PSR) and provide practical guidance during power disruptions.
Fiona Nicholls, Head of Vulnerability at National Grid, highlighted that the partnership will help customers prepare for outages and access tailored advice, while Scope’s teams will raise awareness of PSR services through local outreach and phone support.
The initiative also includes training for National Grid staff and volunteering opportunities to engage local communities, ensuring frontline teams are better equipped to support those with specific needs. By improving PSR sign-ups and customer guidance, the scheme contributes to more effective outage management and helps maintain service reliability during grid events.
Amanda Mitchell, Executive Director of Fundraising at Scope, welcomed the partnership, noting that combining expertise in accessibility and energy management can also help address fuel poverty and ensure safer, more resilient service for vulnerable households.
