The Philippines: The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced plans to complete several major power transmission projects in 2026, representing investments worth millions of dollars (billions of pesos).
In a statemen, the grid operator outlined key infrastructure works scheduled for completion within the year. These include:
- Amlan-Dumaguete 138 kV transmission line – $27.6 M (P1.9 B)
- Tuguegarao-Lal-lo Magapit 230 kV transmission – $34.8 M (P2.4 B)
- Tuy 500 / 230 kV Substation Stage 1 (Tuy-Dasmariñas 500 kV transmission line component) – $117.5 M (P8.1 B)
- Nabas-Caticlan-Boracay 138 kV transmission line – $61 M (P4.2 B)
- Tacurong-Kalamansig 69 kV transmission line – $11 M (P757.98 M)
NGCP also aims to finish Stage 2 of the Visayas Substation Reliability Project and relocate steel poles along the Hermosa–Duhat 230 kV line within the year.
In 2025, the company upgraded and expanded 14 substations, installing transformers ranging from 50 MVA to 1,000 MVA, including major additions in Castillejos, Calaca, Concepcion and Davao. A 100 MVA expansion at the Iloilo Substation under the Panay–Guimaras Interconnection Project was completed in April 2025, along with voltage improvement works in several other substations.
NGCP said the projects support its mandate to deliver safe and reliable transmission services, and urged government agencies and local authorities to expedite permits to avoid delays.
