POWER Engineers has introduced Meerkat™, a new digital tool aimed at improving physical security assessments for substations. The solution combines high-fidelity data, virtual 3D modeling, and real-time line-of-sight analysis to help identify vulnerabilities and strengthen protection for critical assets.

Designed to address evolving threats to substation infrastructure, Meerkat™ enables utilities and engineers to perform detailed and objective assessments using a virtual replica of the facility. Its patented technology captures accurate terrain and asset data to simulate the introduction of mitigation tactics, such as fences or barriers, and evaluate their effectiveness.

Meerkat™ also supports regulatory compliance by aligning with NERC CIP-014 standards, offering both internal assurance and third-party validation options. The tool is backed by a team of security and engineering professionals who collaborate with users to assess physical threats and recommend solutions.

Beyond assessment, Meerkat™ helps optimise the design phase of new substations by allowing early integration of security strategies. It reduces assessment timelines from months to weeks and provides cost-effective recommendations to prevent overdesign and unnecessary spending.

A key feature of the solution is the delivery of a secure, high-resolution 3D model of the substation. This digital asset can be used in engineering, public presentations, or further security evaluations.

By combining real-time threat analysis with a consultative approach, Meerkat™ offers a streamlined, data-driven alternative to traditional security assessments.
