Power outage at Botha substation due to repairs

South Africa, Lynnville: The power supply at Botha substation was urgently isolated on 14 July as it was temporarily unable to accommodate the load of consumers in Lynnville and Ackerville which are supplied from this substation.

One of the transformers has failed thereby reducing the supply capacity to consumers with only one operational transformer.

The substation was repaired and equipped with new equipment in the form of a 10 MVA transformer and switchgear.

Commissioning of the new transformer and switchgear was finalised the same day and consumers loaded to the refurbished substation since the current supply became unstable and could have failed at any given time due to overloading, as load reduction processes have recently been implemented.
