USA, New York: Many areas were left without power in New York State’s Chemung County on Thursday after a fire at a substation. According to an 18 News reporter at the scene, a fire broke out at the substation in Horseheads on Kalen Circuit just off Ridge Road. Crews from local fire departments and NYSEG crews were at the scene assessing the situation.

An incident commander told 18 News that the cause of the fire wasn’t because of an animal but said there was a “sizzle and a pop” which sparked it. NYSEG had reported that 3341 customers had been left without power in the Village of Horseheads, Town of Veteran, Town of Horseheads, Town of Catlin, Town of Catherine, Town of Cayuta, Village of Millport and the Town of Erin.
