Thailand, Bangkok: POWERCHINA has completed and officially handed over the 69 kV South Bangkok Substation Project in Thailand, marking a significant upgrade to the country’s power infrastructure and reinforcing supply stability across Bangkok and surrounding industrial areas.

Situated within an existing power plant in southern Bangkok, the new substation will supply electricity to the city centre as well as the rapidly developing industrial districts of Samut Prakan Province. The facility serves as an important part of the grid, supporting the stability and reliability of the central economic corridor.

Developed as a modern replacement for older systems, the project involved building the new substation within the footprint of the previous plant. This approach allowed the electrical infrastructure to be renewed while increasing the site’s operational capabilities.

Once fully in service, the substation is expected to ease load pressure on Thailand’s transmission network, strengthen regional supply capacity, and contribute to improved energy efficiency. The project is also set to support wider grid optimisation efforts, encourage industrial expansion, and reinforce long-term energy security across the region.

The successful handover demonstrates POWERCHINA’s continued delivery capability in Thailand’s power sector and further enhances the company’s presence and reputation in the local market.
