India: Powergrid Parli Transmission Ltd (PPTL) has begun construction on its RTM project (regulated tariff mechanism), set to be commissioned by December 2025. The company is owned by Powergrid Infrastructure Investment Trust (PGInvIT) and the project is important as it is the first new-build (greenfield) project of PGInvIT since it came into existence in 2021.

The project is a small scheme, with an outlay of INR 25 crore and termed as “400 kV line bay at 765/400 kV Parli (New) substation for interconnection of RE project.” It involves putting up a 400 kV line bay at the existing 765/400 kV Parli (New) substation in Maharashtra. It was awarded to PPTL on RTM basis by Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL) on January 2, 2024.

The 765/400 kV, 3000 MVA Parli (New) substation, together with associated 400 kV and 765 kV lines, was commissioned by PPTL in June 2018 under an ISTS-TBCB scheme originally housed under “Gadarwara (B) Transco Ltd”, subsequently renamed to Powergrid Parli Transmission Ltd after its acquisition by winning developer Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL).

T&D India reports that contracts for the new RTM project have been placed. Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) granted separate transmission licence to PPTL for this RTM project on July 15, 2024.
