Kametstal Begins Substation Reconstruction
Kametstal Iron and Steel Works has started reconstructing the Novodomenna substation, a critical part of the enterprise’s electricity supply to the blast furnace shop and other main equipment. The reconstruction aims to provide trouble-free operation, improve electricity supply quality, and enhance labour safety.
Currently, contractors are performing installation work on the installation of 6 kV KRP at the installation site, which is prepared in advance. Steel structures of the cable route are also mounted to transfer cable lines to connect new cells.
The project involves installing new European equipment and modifying the existing substation to maintain power supply during the reconstruction. The work is being carried out without stopping the substation’s operation, and the scheme has been changed to ensure a safe working environment for contractors. The last stage of work will be the dismantling of equipment decommissioned.
