Saudi Arabia, Riyadh: Saudi Arabia and Syria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, following a meeting between Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Syrian Minister of Energy Mohammad Al-Bashir in Riyadh on 27 July.

The agreement aims to foster bilateral collaboration in areas such as petroleum supply, electricity generation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and investment opportunities.

The ministers also discussed opportunities for knowledge exchange in energy policy, project development, and regulatory frameworks as part of broader efforts to support Syria’s reconstruction and development.

The MoU outlines planned cooperation in oil, gas, petrochemicals, power interconnection, and clean energy initiatives. It marks a step forward in normalising ties between the two nations through technical collaboration and economic engagement.
