Brazil, São Paulo: Siemens Smart Infrastructure and CPFL Energia have partnered to modernize Brazil’s electricity sector by deploying 1.6 million smart meters by 2029.
The project, one of the most ambitious of its kind in Brazil, aims to improve grid efficiency, transparency, and reliability for residential consumers in São Paulo.
CPFL Energia, serving 10.7 million customers across 687 municipalities, is implementing Siemens’ Gridscale X Meter Data Management (MDM) software to enhance grid management and operational efficiency. The system will help detect power losses, enable real-time consumption monitoring, and support the energy transition by improving demand response and reducing carbon emissions.
“By partnering with Siemens, we are preparing for future regulatory demands while enhancing the consumer experience with a more connected and efficient grid,” said Evaldo Baldin, CPFL Energia’s Engineering Director.
Siemens’ Gridscale X MDM processes large volumes of data, validates consumption patterns, detects fraud, and integrates with existing utility systems. By leveraging machine learning and predictive analytics, the platform optimizes power usage, enhances billing accuracy, and improves grid stability.
The initiative will digitally transform CPFL Energia’s operations, ensuring a reliable power supply to approximately 400,000 consumers annually, while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.
