UAE, Sharjah: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is advancing work on the electrical network in the Al Qutainah 1 area, as part of the first phase of a broader initiative to expand and stabilise Sharjah’s power infrastructure.
Through its Electricity Distribution Department, SEWA is executing an intensive project to enhance the reliability and capacity of the grid in this growing residential zone. According to Engineer Ahmed Al Bass, Deputy Director of the department, the authority has made substantial progress in fortifying the energy network.
A key milestone in the project has been the installation and connection of six substations, along with 14 distribution panels. These upgrades are designed to ensure a more stable, efficient, and resilient electricity supply to the area.
In addition to the substations, over 29 km of electrical cabling have been laid. This includes approximately 22.17 km of medium-voltage cables, which link the substations, and 7.6 km of low-voltage cables, which are being used to connect residential units to the grid.
The Al Qutainah 1 project is part of SEWA’s long-term strategic plan to meet increasing demand, reduce power disruptions, and support future development across Sharjah.
